Ever since I was a kid, I was interested in electronics. As a kid, I got pretty far with it, but then I discovered computers, and that went from hobby to career. My "lab" as I like to call it, is a place for me to hang out and work on fun electronics-related things that interest me.

It's an art studio that I have in downtown seattle, but full of everything I need to work on the things I'm tinkering with. Kind of like a "hackerspace", only private, save for a few friends who occasionally use the space for projects.

The studio is located on the ground floor of the OK Hotel in Pioneer Square. Directly where the stage used to be when they had concerts. Recently I found out this is where nirvana debuted "smells like tean spirit." I thought that was pretty cool.

PS: a little about me: I'm a 29 year old software engineer living in Redmond, WA. I've been working at Microsoft for the past 4 1/2 years, where I've had the privilege of contributing to the Desktop Window Manager and the whole composited experience in Vista, along with random USER & GDI fun. I never imagined being able to work on these technologies, and it's been a blast so far! Prior to working at Microsoft I used to work at a little company called Stardock (well, they used to be a little company). I spent time reverse engineering the code I work on now - for the purpose of coming up with fun software applications to extend the user experience. Not too many people know, but I left because I felt like I was getting a bit full of myself. I used to be all about blogging, answering programming questions on IRC (and not being so nice about it), and just generally had an inflated world view. I came to Microsoft because with so many smart people, I knew there would be plenty of room for me to grow! About not being so nice on IRC - I used to be pretty elitist about the way people would go about doing things. I struck a nerve with one guy and he's been trolling me ever since. He even started a web site saying that I was fired from Microsoft! Short of faxing him proof of employment or something like that, I told him he could email me at work if he wanted, but he didn't take me up on it. If you google it you can find it. I guess it's pretty funny in context. Smile

Update (12/09/09): I've moved my lab to a brewery in Georgetown.
